The Fleming was completed in 1909 by Architect Daniel Burnham who is famous for other projects such as the Flatiron building in Manhattan, NY and Union Station in Washington D.C.
The Fleming was the first commissioned steel structure in Iowa and is often referred to as "Iowa's First Skyscraper". The building is located in downtown Des Moines, IA and was converted from Office to multifamily use in a 2014 historical redevelopment completed by Nelson Construction and Development.
